Join us for the launch of the powerful and poignant exhibition, The Sunflower Project, which is showing in The Vertical Gallery of The Linen Hall from 4-29 November.
Coordinated by Derry-based Sole Purpose Productions, this exhibition is the culmination of work with people impacted by mother and baby institutions, using the arts to explore their experiences and to provide a safe and friendly space where difficult experiences can be explored through discussion and creative techniques. The exhibition includes writing and art created by the participants, as well as some of their personal items.
The launch will include the screening of the Monologues Film, a short film which features women who were part of the project: Attracta McGuigan, Caitriona Cunningham, Carmel McCallion, Fiona O’Doherty and Marie McGinn. There will also be contributions from the facilitators and participants involved in the project and from Professor Sean O’Connell, co-chair of the Truth Recovery Independent Panel.
The Sunflower Project is supported by The Ideas Fund, which is delivered by the British Science Association and funded by Wellcome. Sole Purpose Productions is core funded by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
Light refreshments will be provided.
