Newcomer and migrant women in NI explore belonging and exclusion through photographs
‘Images of Incoming’ is a photovoice project directed by Prof Tess Maginess engaging over 60 women from Northern Ireland and Canada in partnership between Queen’s University Belfast’s Open Learning, the University of the Fraser Valley in British Columbia, and the University of Atypical.
On this year’s International Women’s Day Dr Federica Ferrieri, the project coordinator, will present a selection of photographs taken and captioned by participants to express their sense of exclusion and belonging in their new country.
Coming from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures, from Africa to China to India and Pakistan, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Kosovo, Kurdistan, East Timor, and Mauritius, you’ll be challenged by their images and comments – powerful, moving, inspiring, funny.
