Farhad O’Neill: Automatic Writings

3rd October - 31st October

‘This is an exhibition of abstract typography/calligraphy based on music. This style of drawing/writing is an interpretation of musical line/gesture and structure as it applies from monophonic and polyphonic music. This body of work is the result of twelve years of drawing in this stream of conscious style, between 2007 and 2019. I ended up with a huge corpus of work, which I began to curate in 2019. Overall, the style of drawing looks eastern, but it is culturally non-specific. The types of music which influenced the work include classical European chamber music, electronic music, jazz music and symphonic music for opera and ballet.’ Farhad O’Neill

A new sculpture by Farhad O’Neill, inspired by The Linen Hall’s Robert McAdam Comparative Lexicon, will be unveiled on 22 October and will be on display in the library on Level 2 until 29 November.

The exhibition is located in the Vertical Gallery and is FREE to attend.
