The Linen Hall is seeking oral history participants for its project, Origins & Legacies: The Belfast/Good Friday Agreement.
The Origins & Legacies: Belfast/Good Friday Agreement is a project to explore making, agreeing, and keeping peace in Northern Ireland from the early 1990s until the present day, supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
We would like to collect and document previously underheard voices about their opinions and attitudes towards the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement and its legacy in today’s society.
Recordings of oral histories are integral to The Linen Hall’s intention to preserve Northern Ireland’s memory. Your experiences will be recorded and treasured to the permanent archives of The Linen Hall for future researchers and generations to explore and further our understanding of the past and present.
Subject to permissions granted by participants, some of the data captured from the oral histories will be integrated into an exhibition which will be displayed in The Linen Hall, and/or the audio recordings will be catalogued, transcribed, and archived in our Northern Ireland Political Collection. You can choose to make a named or an anonymous contribution.
All participants must be over 18 years old. As the project seeks to explore the legacies of the Good Friday Agreement, it is preferable that participants will have lived in Northern Ireland since 1998. The Linen Hall would like to engage with a broad range of individuals, groups, and communities across all age, religious, political, national, and socioeconomic backgrounds. The Linen Hall is particularly keen to hear from women, those who were too young to vote in the referendum, and all members of BAME communities.
