EDUCATION AND OUTREACH OFFICER

JOB DESCRIPTION

CONTRACT:                6 months (two days per week)

SALARY:                       c. £25,000 per annum (pro rata)

HOURS:                         15 hours per week

RESPONSIBLE TO:     The Director

JOB PURPOSE

The Linen Hall Library has received funding for an Education and Outreach project which will involve working with women affected by the Troubles and encourage them to work with the NI Political Collection in the Library.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL:

Candidates must have:

  • Qualified to degree level in a relevant discipline
  • Museum qualification or relevant experience of working with museum accredited collections (in the last 5 years)
  • Experience of documenting collections, collections care and conservation
  • Proven experience of research and outreach, from inception to delivery, in heritage, arts and culture sector
  • Proven community relations/development experience and ability to work in partnership
  • Good organisational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in the use of Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Flexibility to work unsociable hours, if required

Desirable: 

  • Experience in putting together exhibitions, including working with designers
  • Experience of oral history projects and knowledge of legal and ethical principles
  • Experience of leading volunteers
