On Sunday 5 January 2020, Van Morrison, one of the world’s most celebrated musicians, will perform live at the Lyric Theatre, Belfast with his six-piece live band in support of the Linen Hall Library, one of Belfast’s oldest charities.
Internationally celebrated musician Van Morrison hardly needs an introduction. He has one of the most revered catalogues in music history and an unparalleled talent as a composer and singer. Hits such a Brown Eyed Girl, Have I Told You Lately, Moondance and Days Like This have secured his place as one of modern music’s most popular and prolific artists.
This special fundraising performance is in support of the Linen Hall Library, Belfast’s oldest library and one of the city’s oldest charities. Since 1788 it has collected books and ephemera and now holds several world-renowned archives. The Library is free to enter, but membership, which brings additional benefits, is encouraged. As an independent, self-sustaining organisation, the Library constantly seeks way to raise funds, and special events, such as this, are one such initiative.
Julie Andrews, Linen Hall Director, says: “We are honoured that a musician as famous as Van Morrison has kindly given his time to help raise funds for one for the most important cultural institutions in his homeland. Van Morrison has always been a friend of the Linen Hall Library and this event is sure to go down in our history as one of the most special.””
