Professor Emeritus Brian Walker is a distinguished historian and former president of the Linen Hall Library. He is the author or editor of some 15 books on Irish and local history, including Sentry Hill: an Ulster farm and family, No mean city: Belfast 1880-1914 and, recently, Irish history matters: politics, identities and commemoration. In this lecture he will reflect, not only on his own work, but also on how approaches to history writing have changed over the last 50 years.
