Angela Graham considers the potential of the short story as witness statement. How does it drive towards implication, towards response, and the assumption or rejection of responsibility?
Dr. Frank Ferguson, Director of the Centre for Irish and Scottish Literature at the University of Ulster will interview Angela on how the short story form sits with the rest of her work as a filmmaker and writer. A Q+A will follow.
Angela’s collection A City Burning (Seren Books) is longlisted for the Edge Hill Short Story Prize. Its 26 stories are set in Northern Ireland, Wales, and Italy. They have been praised for their clarity of voice, economy of expression, and cinematic quality and for their use of languages other than English.
