‘On The Steps’ with Gerald Dawe

Friday 18 February, 1.00pm • Linen Hall Performance Area • Free

Gerald Dawe has described the Linen Hall Library as an ‘essential’ part of his life. He regards our iconic front steps as a critical point on the ‘Belfast compass’. In this spirit, and to mark 55 years of association with the Linen Hall Library, (and his 70th birthday) Gerald Dawe (poet, writer, and Fellow Emeritus, Trinity College Dublin) will present to the Library a portrait by artist Peter FitzGerald. The portrait was originally commissioned to mark the 50th anniversary of Kenny’s Gallery & Bookshop in Galway. During this event, Dawe will reflect on his 55-year relationship with the Linen Hall before officially handing over the portrait to the custody of the Library.
