Linen was the trade that shaped the industrial heritage of Belfast, earning it the name Linenopolis. This exciting new exhibition will celebrate Belfast’s Linen Quarter. Examining social history, working life, family life and health of the workers and includes loans from PRONI, Coleraine Museum and McBurney and Black. Artists Anna Smyth, Claire Mooney and Natanael Smyth will showcase current work reflecting the use of linen today. Photographs created as part of a community outreach project in partnership with Belfast Exposed will also be exhibited.
This project has been funded by the Department for Communities, Tourism Northern Ireland and National Lottery Heritage Fund as part of the European Year of Cultural Heritage.
