At a time of great uncertainty for loyalism and Northern Ireland, it is worth examining an alternative political path loyalism and Northern Ireland could have taken, a path that may have prevented many of the problems facing both today. This talk will analyse the development of progressive politics and policies within elements of the UVF and RHC that culminated in the Progressive Unionist Party’s various proposals for ‘Sharing responsibility’ which proposed that all in Northern Ireland ‘share responsibility’ rather than ‘share power’ in a new and ‘An Alternative Ulster’.
