Music, Community and Peacebuilding

Music has been an integral part of Corrymeela’s life throughout its 60 years, in spontaneous and informal gatherings, in worship and times of reflection and especially in the sharing of its commitment to reconciliation and peacebuilding. The songs of Corrymeela, many of them original, have featured in peace rallies, church services, broadcasts and recordings, in Ireland, Britain and abroad. This presentation, with songs performed by a small group, will offer an overview of Corrymeela’s musical life and journey and explore how music can be a valuable instrument in the ongoing task of building peace.
