Macha Press: Poets and Editors in Conversation

Macha Press was founded in 2024 by seven poets, each with manifold areas of practice. Macha publishes poetry that is experimental, formally hybrid and/or interdisciplinary. Join editors Natasha Cuddington and Kathleen McCracken alongside poets Eilish Martin and Susanna Galbraith. They will discuss poetry and process— from the poets’ initial drafts, to the in-depth, collaborative editing work undertaken by the Macha team and finally, to publication. Martin and Galbraith will read a select number of poems as part of this unique conversation. Join Macha Press and celebrate their dynamic poets and publications!
Susanna Galbraith is a poet from Belfast. She studied English at Trinity College Dublin and Art History at the University of York, where she focused on modern and contemporary art. She has a particular interest in areas where literature and visual art overlap and interact. Her recent poems have appeared in New England Review, Berlin Lit, Propel Magazine and others. She is an editor of Abridged magazine.
Poet and artist Eilish Martin has published two previous collections of poetry, slitting the tongues of jackdaws (Summer Palace Press, 1999) and Ups Bounce Dash (Summer Palace Press, 2008). She has contributed translations to Seán Ó Ríordáin’s Selected Poems (Yale University Press, 2014), and When the Neva Rushes Backwards a bilingual
Macha Press was recently founded by seven poets, each with manifold areas of practice. Attuned to marginal poetries, including work that is experimental, formally hybrid and / or interdisciplinary, we aim to dazzle our readers with innovative practices from wild reaches of our poetic ecosystem and also to represent work that is intercultural and / or in translation. We also aim to keep gaze on endangered poetries of fore-writers which require our recovery.
