‘Home Again’: Creative Writing Workshop with Stephen de Búrca

Delivered as part of the Gerald Dawe Poetry Bursary, a partnership project with Poetry Ireland, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and The Linen Hall.

This two-hour workshop will take the theme of the Gerald Dawe Poetry Bursary, ‘Home Again’, as its starting point. ‘Home again’ conjures the places with which we are familiar, together with how we return to these places – physically, in memory, figuratively. In our own work, how can we bring these places to the page in fresh, nuanced ways, even those places with which  readers might already be familiar?

This workshop will explore ideas around home and returns through prompts and by considering examples from Dawe’s own writing, as well as by turning to writers and artists that Dawe himself returned home to and in whom he found inspiration.

Led by poet Stephen de Búrca, this workshop is ideal for those who have taken creative writing workshops before and wish to continue developing their skills.
