EXHIBITION: Fragments of Scotch Poetry: The Influences of Robert Burns

15th January - 27th February

The Linen Hall has one of the largest collections of Robert Burns outside of Scotland. Amassed towards the end of the nineteenth century by Andrew Gibson, a Governor of the library, the collection was acquired for the city of Belfast in 1901 by public subscription and placed in The Linen Hall. This exhibition brings the collection to life, telling the fascinating stories of those who influenced Robert Burns, exploring his popularity in Belfast and beyond, and highlighting his enduring influence and relevance through new ten new poems from contemporary writers who were specially commissioned as part of this project.

The ‘Fragments of Scotch Poetry’ project is generously supported by the Department for Communities.
