Complete Beginners Italian 1: First Steps

Start from scratch! In this 11-week block of classes, you’ll learn the basics of Italian pronunciation, essential vocabulary, and simple grammar structures. We’ll focus on everyday language and practical communication, helping you speak and understand Italian from the very beginning. The approach is interactive and supportive, with plenty of speaking practice in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

There will be no class on Monday 27 October.

If you enjoy Complete Beginners: First Steps, you’ll be able to progress in your Italian journey at The Linen Hall. You’ll have the option to sign up for Complete Beginners 2: Building Confidence, which will run January-March 2026, and for Complete Beginners 3: Moving Forward, which will run after Easter, from April-June 2026.

Please note that Complete Beginners 1: First Steps will not run again until September 2026.

About Giada Mangiardi

Hailing from the beautiful city of Turin, Giada Mangiardi is a language teacher who has a passion for languages in both the spoken form and the science behind them. After completing her MA degree in Linguistics in 2007 she moved to Co. Limerick and taught Italian in a school. After a year she moved to Belfast where she has been working as a language tutor to all ages in QUB, Belfast Metropolitan College and the Crescent Arts Centre. She has also worked as Language Coach at the Grand Opera House.

Giada has collaborated in the editing of Italian language course books as well as works dealing with minority languages. She looks forward to sharing with you her knowledge and love for Italian in all its aspects, from grammar to food, from music to regional traditions.
