Beginners Continuation Italian 1: Gaining Ground

You’ve learnt the basics—now it’s time to solidify them. In this 11-week course, we’ll reinforce the fundamentals of grammar and vocabulary introduced in the Complete Beginners course. We’ll explore sentence building, present tense, and introduce reflexive verbs (while learning how to describe your daily routine) and the passato prossimo. We’ll practice everyday scenarios through interactive activities, guided dialogues, short reading, and listening tasks. The focus is on helping you gain confidence in speaking and understanding Italian more naturally.

There will be no class on Monday 26th October.

If you enjoy Beginners Continuation Italian 1: Gaining Ground, you’ll be able to progress in your Italian journey at The Linen Hall. You’ll have the option to sign up for Beginners Continuation Italian 2: Exploring the Past and Everyday Life, which will run January-March 2027, and for Beginners Continuation Italian 3: Bridging to Intermediate, which will run after Easter, from April-June 2027.

Please note that Beginners Continuation Italian 1: Gaining Ground will not run again until September 2027.

About Giada Mangiardi

Hailing from the beautiful city of Turin, Giada Mangiardi is a language teacher who has a passion for languages in both the spoken form and the science behind them. After completing her MA degree in Linguistics in 2007 she moved to Co. Limerick and taught Italian in a school. After a year she moved to Belfast where she has been working as a language tutor to all ages in QUB, Belfast Metropolitan College and the Crescent Arts Centre. She has also worked as Language Coach at the Grand Opera House.

Giada has collaborated in the editing of Italian language course books as well as works dealing with minority languages. She looks forward to sharing with you her knowledge and love for Italian in all its aspects, from grammar to food, from music to regional traditions.
