Anthony Toner In Concert

Anthony Toner makes a welcome return to the historic setting of The Linen Hall for a solo acoustic show – and with an armful of new songs to celebrate.
His brand-new album Long Long Way includes twelve songs. These are the first original pieces in almost two years from the Coleraine-born, Belfast-based songwriter, an artist with 14 critically-acclaimed albums under his belt and a devoted following across Northern Ireland and beyond. As usual, this new material has Anthony’s trademark mix of insight, heart and humour.
Expect an evening of fine playing, singing, great between-song stories. There’ll be a selection of classics from the back catalogue, including ‘The Road to Fivemiletown’, ‘Sailortown’, ‘Well Well Well’ and many more, as well as some blues, some covers and – increasingly these days – a poem or two, selections from some of Anthony’s favourite writers.
Last year’s performance at the library was a sell-out, so make sure to book early for a pre-festive season musical treat.

About Anthony Toner
Anthony Toner is a singer songwriter based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He’s currently celebrating the release of his 14th album, Ghost Notes Vol 2, a collection of cover versions of songs from artists as diverse as King Crimson and Elvis Presley, and will be playing dates across Northern Ireland, Scotland and England throughout 2024.
Famed for his engaging between-songs patter and his accomplished guitar playing, he is one of Northern Ireland’s most popular live acts, chalking up dozens of live shows a year as a solo acoustic artist, ‘In the Round’ with friends, and also on electric guitar, playing slide blues in the Ronnie Greer Blues Band. In each setting, his command of the instrument and his voice are pressed into service to deliver some of the finest lyrics you’ll hear in contemporary roots music.
He’s been described as ‘James Taylor meets John Prine in a second-hand book shop’, and that about captures his style – literate, warm, insightful and connected.
