EXPLORE OUR LATEST ONLINE EXHIBITION
The Linen Hall received support from the Irish Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade to develop a project exploring how integrated education has contributed to greater understanding and reconciliation in Northern Ireland.
The project began with the appraisal and cataloguing of The Linen Hall’s unique archives, including an extensive collection relating to All Children Together, the parent-led grassroots campaign established in the 1970s that went on to found Lagan College in 1981. This important collection shows the development of the integrated education movement and helps preserve its history for future generations.
The project comprised:
- a series of community engagement workshops exploring the history and legacy of integrated education with participants from a wide range of backgrounds;
- the recording of 36 oral history interviews with a diverse range of community activists, school founders, governors, parents, former pupils, funders, politicians and teachers;
- an exhibition held at The Linen Hall from May to July 2026 showcasing material from the archives alongside testimony from the oral history interviews;
- exhibition tours for pupils from a range of integrated schools; and
- a programme of public events, including an exhibition launch, talks and panel discussions.
If you were unable to visit the exhibition in person, you can now explore it online. The online exhibition features additional material from The Linen Hall’s archives, alongside recordings of the project events and clips from oral history interviews, making the project’s stories and resources accessible to a wider audience.
The Linen Hall’s archives are open and accessible to the public and we welcome any donations of material relating to integrated education. If you would like to donate material to enrich our archives and preserve for future generations, please email info@linenhall.com
We are grateful to our funders and to everyone who engaged with The Linen Hall as part of this project.
