TALK
Explore the artistic legacy and enduring friendship of Alice Berger Hammerschlag, a visual artist who escaped from the Nazi regime, and Helen Lewis, a distinguished dancer, choreographer, and Holocaust survivor—two influential female modern artists who found a new home in Belfast.
The two remarkable women crossed paths in pre-Troubles Belfast, where their friendship began. In this talk, Pamela Linden Aveyard, historian of migration and Irish/British Jewry, will explore their lives, work, and journeys as well as their involvement at the heart of Northern Ireland’s artistic life.
