LINEN HALL LIBRARY
Founded in 1788, the Linen Hall Library is a truly unique institution. It is the oldest library in Belfast and the last subscribing library in Ireland. The Library is renowned for its unparalleled Irish and Local Studies Collection. The Linen Hall is an independent and charitable body.
The Governors are now seeking to appoint a Director to develop and implement the strategic goals and objectives of the Library.
The Director will have ultimate responsibility for the sound financial management of the institution and will take a lead role in the implementation of successful fundraising strategies to secure the Library’s future.
Leading a team of committed staff, the Director, in co-operation with the Librarian, will develop and deliver a range of benefits and incentives to retain and recruit members.
The person appointed should be commercially focused and, ideally, have a close affinity with the cultural/arts sector and an appreciation of the opportunities and challenges facing such organisations and charitable bodies in Northern Ireland.
This is an exciting and challenging position with an attractive remuneration package for the right candidate. The position of Director will be offered on a five year fixed term basis, with the option to extend for further terms of five years. Secondment may be considered with the approval of existing employer.
