THE CAVE HILL DIAMOND CONTINUES TO SPARKLE AT THE LINEN HALL LIBRARY IN JULY

The Cave Hill Diamond, which has been part of Ulster folklore for generations and found in the late 1800s in the Cave Hill area, was presented to the Linen Hall Library in June and features in an exhibition that runs throughout the summer.

The schedule of events for July is as follows:

All of July – Saturday 12 September/exhibition/free - Belfast Gems: Cave Hill and the Diamond
The famous Cave Hill Diamond will be on display for all to see after being re-discovered in a private collection three years ago and presented to the Linen Hall Library in June. The exhibition will examine the facts and folklore around the Diamond and the incredible journey the Diamond has taken since its discovery in the Cave Hill area in the late 1800s and subsequent disappearance in the early 1900s.

There’s also an exhibition of Northern Irish artist Raymond Piper’s work. Born in England, Piper spent many years in Belfast and particularly loved the Cave Hill area of which he produced many studies.

SATURDAY 11 JULY – SATURDAY 18 JULY – LINEN HALL LIBRARY CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC.

Saturday 25 July at 11.00am – Tour of the Cave Hill Diamond exhibition/free
Discover the story of the Cave Hill Diamond, its origins, discovery, disappearance and reappearance in a gentleman’s attaché case three years ago. The exhibition covers three floors of the Library’s Vertical Gallery. Booking must be in advance to participate in this tour.
